Refuge Lansing
Refuge Lansing was a grassroots project led by Lansing photographers Jeremy Herliczek and Roxanne Frith. It celebrated the stories of 12 refugee families who made Lansing their home, with support from more than two dozen creative professionals along with 4 refugee support agencies: Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties (CCEIC, formerly St Vincent Refugee Services), Samaritas, Global Institute of Lansing, and Refugee Development Center.
The exhibit and book highlighted refugees’ contributions while fostering empathy, hope, and understanding in the community.
Launched at the State Capitol in June 2017 with remarks from State Rep. Sam Singh, the traveling exhibit toured Michigan, engaging both urban and rural audiences on the value of inclusivity and diversity. A companion full-color book offered deeper stories.
